Are you ready to write a novel in November? It’s time for National Novel Writing Month.
Some people already have an idea, or maybe even a draft or an outline written down. Others are still pondering. That’s okay, because you still have another 18 days to think about it.
Are you a planner or a pantser?
Planners plan out their stories so they know what happens when, where and to whom.
Pantsers ‘fly by the seat of their pants’ and write as the ideas evolve, going back later to add or change to complete the plots.
There is no right or wrong method; write with whatever method works best for you!
Who is your audience?
Are you writing a romance or a sci-fi? Are you writing for Young Adults? Have a look around your own library, or visit the local library or bookstore and gain some inspiration. Don’t be afraid to take notes on things that inspire you: a name, a cover image, a plot idea from a blurb, a new genre you haven’t written before.
What’s your writing goal for November?
500 words a day x 30 days = 15,000 words
1,000 words a day x 30 days = 30,000 words
1,500 words a day x 30 days = 45,000 words
2,000 words a day x 30 days = 60,000 words
2,500 words a day x 30 days = 75,000 words
