John Franks has written a book of two stories told more than a century apart. They are tales of two men leaving their own home in Europe and making a new life and relationships in Australia. Although there is a link in the geography of the settings the stories stand on their own in the development of characters, their lives and romances. Franks draws them together at the close with a most satisfying conclusion. This book is an entertaining read.
