Short stories are like tiny nibbles of a new food – bitter, sweet or savoury, fun or serious. The reader may reflect, laugh, cry or just enjoy them. As with many works of fiction, they are not necessarily true, but like all writings, some have truth in experience and background, as do these little stories. Some are prize winners, and some are just fun.
These are the fun stories that didn’t make it into the memoir of retired music teacher and choir conductor, Diana Souter.
